Infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT)

Herpes virus cause respiratory disease in chickens. The course of the disease varies with the severity of lesion but most bird recover in 10-14 days

The symptome

  1. wet irritated eye 
  2. sneezing , nasal discharge , difficult breathing , bloody discharge from nose & mouth  ,  gasping , coughing 
  3. decrease growth & egg production also decreased 

P.M. lession 

  • trachea is often very bloody or may be clogged with mucus & blood

Prevention 

  • avoid moving any birds onto or off the farm during an ILT outbreak 
  • do not visit other poultry producers during an ILT outbreak 
  • disinfect & clean of the  equipment
